Jessica Simpson’s dad blames Tony Romo for her weighty issues

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo out in New York

This is why you shouldn’t let your dad fix you up on dates. Or manage your career. At least Britney Spears’ dad sorta seems to have her best interests at heart. Joe Simpson, who gave life to and now manages the affairs of pop-tart Jessica Simpson, has decided that Tony Romo is to blame for Simpson’s weight gain, concert stumbles and career missteps.

“Joe now feels that Tony has become too much of a distraction for Jessica,” a friend told The ENQUIRER.

“Any free time she has, Jess wants to spend with Tony. But rather than blaming his daughter’s work ethic, Joe points the finger at Tony.

“He wants Tony out of her life, but Jessica loves him and won’t even consider leaving him at this point.”

The saddest part of all of it is that Joe brought the two lovebirds together in the first place. And not because he thought they would enjoy each other’s company: he hoped that dating a Dallas Cowboy would kick Jessica’s country career into high-gear. Nice, right?

“But if Jessica had her druthers, she’d be married and pregnant. Her main concern is getting Tony to settle down and commit,” said the friend. [Source]

Poor Joe. Both of his cash cow daughters are turning out to be total disappointments with their pregnancies and dreams of wedded bliss. How’s a hard-working dad supposed to make any money off his offspring these days?

Anna Faris talks humor and self-image in Self magazine

Anna Faris Self cover

Anna Faris is certainly flaunting her toned little body these days and who can blame her? If I looked that good I’d be on the cover on any magazine that would have me. Faris is getting good buzz as she promotes her latest film, “Observe and Report” co-starring Seth Rogan, and she recently took some time out to shoot a hot cover for the April issue of Self magazine.

“I’m embarrassed on almost a daily basis,” Faris, 32, tells Self magazine for its April issue. “You sort of have to suck it up sometimes.”

Take, for instance, when fans approach The House Bunny star. Often, she says, the conversations are less than tactful.

“They say stuff like, ‘You’re so much shorter in person,’ ” Faris says. “Or ‘Oh, my god, you look just like that girl, but you are a lot prettier than she is.’ ”

“You have to grin and bear it,” Faris says, revealing her optimistic approach. “I might say in return, ‘I know I looked skinnier in The House Bunny, but thanks to my diet of beer and doughnuts, I’m back to my fightin’ weight!’” [Source]

Beer and donuts, huh? So why doesn’t Homer Simpson have an Anna Faris six pack?

Mischa Barton told to pile on the pounds

Mischa Barton is embarking on a calorific diet as demanded by her latest role as “model-type” Sonia in new US TV show ‘A Beautiful Life’. Mischa has been told to gain weight to keep her role. Former ‘The O.C.’ actress, Mischa has agreed to pile on the pounds after producers raised concerns about her skinny frame.

Mischa is understood to only be allowed to keep her part of Sonia, a model in ‘A Beautiful Life’, if she can keep her weight up. A source said:

“The producers are very mindful that their target audience is teenage girls so it’s important not to send the wrong message. “Mischa has the part on condition she does not lose weight - they want her to put weight on if she can.”

Concerns were raised last year after the 23-year-old actress was pictured looking gaunt. She previously said she is “obsessed with Pilates”, but was quick to dismiss any concerns over her weight on her blog. She wrote:

“Just so you guys know, I’m happier and healthier than ever. I’ve just been watching what I eat. “I still love my Pilates and yoga, and have cut back on fatty foods a bit. My time in India and Paris really just helped me lose a little bit of weight but there’s nothing drastic going on.”

Taylor Swift dishes on weight and performing in Allure

Taylor Swift is all over the place these days but just because she’s always running around doesn’t mean Swift opts out of exercise. The teen pop super-star says that her reasons for working out aren’t superficial—it’s more about staying healthy enough to play a show.

Taylor Swift on Weight: “Basically, if I’m indulging too much and not exercising enough, I can feel that,” she says. “I can feel a change before I see it. For me, working out is not so I can stay skinny. It’s so that I can keep up my endurance so I’m not panting on stage. Heavy breathing is the worst when you’re in concert. You don’t want to see that, if you’re going to see a show.” [Source]

Taylor seems to take her professional obligations very seriously, which is a surprise in someone so young, so famous and so independent.

Mischa Barton asked to gain weight for role

Mischa Barton must be freaking out. The poor girl has been working herself senseless on the Pilates reformer for the last year or so and now she’s going to have to gain weight. And why? For a part! This sounds backwards by Hollywood standards, I know, but it’s a weird world out there, kids.

Mischa Barton has been told to gain weight to keep her role in a new US TV show.

Former ‘The O.C.‘ actress Mischa has agreed to pile on the pounds after producers voiced concerns she had become too skinny.

The good news for Mischa is that it’s always easier to put weight back on.

Beyonce Knowles discusses weight in Vogue

Beyonce Knowles knows a thing or two about weight. The actress-singer has gained and lost and gained an lost again and again over the years. Beyonce spoke about her weight, as well as the influence she has on young girls, in her April cover interview with Vogue magazine.

Indeed, Knowles has been known to easily transform her body shape for various roles, famously losing twenty pounds for her role in “Dreamgirls,” then gaining an additional 20 for “Cadillac Records.”

“It’s easy for me to gain weight,” she says. “I’m not a naturally stick-thin girl. I’m not heavy but Im not skinny either.”

Coupled with her amazing talent, it’s easy to see why the star’s self-confidence and poise have made her a role model to young girls everywhere, including Sasha and Malia Obama.

“The amount of influence I have on these young girls is scary sometimes. But I also understand how lucky I am to have that.” [Source]

Meghan McCain fires back after conservative body slam

Meghan McCain picture wearing tourquoise dress

Meghan McCain, daughter of former presidential contender Senator John McCain, is involved in a hot conservative cat fight right now. McCain, a right-wing youngster with a daily political blog of her own, apparently said some nasty things about Anne Coulter (who hasn’t) and Coulter’s mean-girl BFF, Laura Ingraham, fired back and not in a particularly constructive way.

Recently my not-size-0 body has come under fire again by the conservative pundit Laura Ingraham. On her radio show recently, she sarcastically commented that I was “too plus-sized to be a cast member on the television show The Real World” and needled me about my weight with a comment about Barbie’s 50th anniversary. Instead of intellectually debating our ideological differences about the future of the Republican Party, Ingraham resorted to making fun of my age and weight, in the fashion of the mean girls in high school. [Source]

McCain went on to discuss how she’s been heavy her whole life and admitted that she constantly battles her fluctuating weight. I may not see eye to eye with Meghan on many issues but I definitely understand where she’s coming from on this one. And it’s nice to know that looking like an emaciated scarecrow isn’t a prerequisite for female conservatives.

Maria Menounos is 40 lbs lighter

maria menounos picture after 40 pounds weight loss

Maria Menounos was once forty pounds heavier than she is today, but the newsgirl/actress didn’t let the extra weight get on her nerves because she figured it was part of the college experience. She said:

“I honestly didn’t feel bad when I had gained the weight because my weight gain was in the best places you would want it – here (chest) and here (buttocks),” the Emerson College alum, 30, who worked at Dunkin’ Donuts, tells me. “I still had a flat stomach. Yeah, I was disappointed at different times when I tried clothes on and they didn’t fit, but I was in college. I didn’t really care too much. Everybody else around me had a bigger problem.”

“When I lost the weight, I was happy and proud of myself because I knew it was a big accomplishment to lose that much weight. And I knew I wanted to be in this business and it wasn’t healthy. My dad is diabetic, and I knew it was something I was prone to. It was a real big decision on my part to take it down a notch and make sure I stayed as healthy as I could.”

These days, when she treats herself to a little too much with big dinners and irresistible desserts during carefree vacations, Maria has an ace up her sleeve for keeping trim.

“I think we all obsess so much, and you’re going to deprive yourself? For what? You’re supposed to enjoy yourself. The week after, just take it easy. Eat some fresh salads and fresh fruit. Replenish yourself with good, healthy alternatives for a week afterward and you’ll be fine. Take a long walk after dinner. Do something like that. I never stress about it.”
