Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) has embarked on a strict diet to be as thin as her Spice Girls bandmates.

Mel B gave birth to her daughter Angel Iris on April 3, and has already lost 10lbs, but she is determined to lose even more weight to look her best for the Spice Girls reunion world tour, which starts in December.

A source told Britain’s Closer magazine: “She lost 10lbs in a week with her trainer Joey Kormier, and dropped to her goal weight of 120lbs in a month.

“Joey’s really strict. They do cardio and really heavy cross training for extra toning. Mel likes strict trainers as she used to go to a military training club.”

Mel’s friend says the singer wants to get into “dating shape”, and her efforts have been so successful she is already involved in a budding romance with film producer Stephen Belafonte. [Source]

Melanie Chisholm (also known as Mel C or Sporty Spice) says that she was an unhealthy role model for the Spice Girls fans. She had to live up to her skinny tomboy image by excessively exercising and not eating enough. Now she is warning others of the dangers of extreme dieting.

Here’s what Mel told The Sun:

“I was underweight and my image was unhealthy. There were kids who were looking up to me. I want to rectify any of the damage I caused.

“I got so thin my periods stopped and my bones became very fragile. I may have done permanent damage.

“I went to the gym and trained constantly. I wasn’t eating properly. I wanted to get as perfect as I could, knowing perfection is impossible, and that got me very sick.” [Source]

Former Spice Girl Mel B (Melanie Brown) just gave birth to a healthy baby girl in California, at St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica.

“Baby is completely healthy with a good head of hair. Mother and baby are now resting,” the statement said. “No name has been decided on as yet, and (she) is purely known as Baby Brown!” [Source]

Melanie says the father is her ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy, and that there’s “absolutely no question that Eddie is the father”. Eddie Murphy said that he’s not sure.

(By the way, funny coincidence – or not – both Eddie Murphy and Mel B’s daughter share the same birth date: April 3!)

Mel B has another daughter, the 8-year-old Phoenix Chi, from her marriage to Jimmy Gulzar, one of the Spice Girls dancers.
