Sunbathing and swimming in the sea were not the only things Paris Hilton did during her vacation in Hawaii. She also did some shopping and ate a delicious-looking yellow ice cream. And the paparazzi followed her every move!

(There are rumors that Paris called the paparazzi herself to let them know where she was.)

Paris is back in the States and posted an Independence Day message on her MySpace page:

“Happy 4th of July!
Current mood: excited

Hey everyone! I’m back from my much needed vacation in Maui. It was so beautiful and relaxing. But its good to be home again. I just want to thank you all for your letters of love and support. I am doing my best to respond to each and every one with the letter I wrote–that message was for fans like you who have supported me through it all.

I wanted to let you all know that I’m going to be updating my myspace and writing in more cause I haven’t done it in awhile. The past month has inspired me to move forward with some exciting new projects, so I will keep you all posted.

Happy 4th of July everyone, and remember to be responsible and have a designated driver! Just looking out for you all. I love you and have an amazing summer!

After spending 23 days in jail, Paris Hilton took a (well-deserved) vacation and flew to Hawaii, where she spent some quality time admiring herself in a small makeup mirror, relaxing and generally reflecting on her life…

Paris Hilton is a free woman! The 10 pounds slimmer heiress was just released from prison shortly after midnight, after serving 23 days of her 45-day sentence.

The 26-year-old celebutante was greeted by an enormous gathering of cameras and reporters upon leaving the all-women’s facility in Lynwood about 15 minutes past midnight. She had checked into the Century Regional Detention Facility late June 3, largely avoiding the spotlight, after a surprise appearance at the MTV Movie Awards.Hilton smiled and waved as she filed past deputies and the media, her blonde hair pulled back in a braided ponytail. Her parents, Kathy and Rick, waited in a black SUV. Hilton hurried to the vehicle, where she hugged her mom through the window.

Hilton, who was wearing a sage jacket with white trim over a white shirt and skinny jeans, did not respond to reporters’ questions.

“She fulfilled her debt. She was obviously in good spirits. She thanked people as she left,” said sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore. [Source]

Paris will give her first post-jail interview on CNN’s “Larry King Live” on Wednesday.

It looks like Paris Hilton was so eager to meet her new friends at the Century Regional Detention Facility, that she checked into jail two days earlier than scheduled.

Right after attending the 2007 MTV Movie Awards last night (June 3), she and her family returned home, from where she was picked up by her lawyer Richard Hutton and drove to jail together with her mom Kathy and sister Nicky.

Paris released a statement to TMZ, saying:

“I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. During the past few weeks, I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes. This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make. I want to thank my family, friends and fans for their continued support. Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence.” [Source]
