Even though she’s helping raise awareness of Africa (taking place in the “African Rising” events around the world), Naomi Campbell is not welcome to one of Africa’s greatest men, Nelson Mandela‘s 90th birthday concert.

Naomi was supposed to be a presenter at the concert that will take place this weekend in London, but Mandela decided to take her off the presenters list because of her recent airport arrest.

A source close to the event said: ‘The man himself intervened and she was pulled off the list. He was disappointed with her recent arrest – particularly as she was wearing a 46664 baseball cap at the time.’

This was Mr Mandela‘s prison number-during his 27-year sentence and now promotes his AIDS awareness campaign. [Source]

Naomi Campbell joined the “Ugly Betty” cast for the second series finale, which will be aired on May 22nd.

The supermodel, who plays “a loony who loves to shop and can’t find a man”, will be seen taking part in a baseball game between a team of models (Elle magazine) and Ugly Betty‘s Mode magazine team.

Naomi managed to control her temper during the shooting, not hitting anyone with the baseball bat except the ball itself – she apparently hit it so hard that it broke in half!

Naomi Campbell has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer at London’s Heathrow Airport.

The 37-year-old model, who is known for her temper tantrums, had to be escorted from a British Airways plane on Thursday afternoon (April 3) after being aggressive and abusive to staff. According to reports, she spat at an officer and was handcuffed as she left the aircraft.

Naomi was released on bail pending investigation, police sources said earlier today.

British supermodel Naomi Campbell was hospitalized and underwent emergency surgery in Brazil to have a cyst removed from her abdomen yesterday.

“I can say that I operated on her on Monday and that she is completely healed,” doctor Jose Aristodemo Pinotto, a gynecological specialist, told the website of the newspaper O Estado de Sao Paulo.

“I am already allowing her to get out of bed,” he added. [Yahoo! News]

The doctor said the procedure was “an emergency”, but went well. There was not any problem during the surgery. Naomi is now resting in Sao Paulo, and is looking forward to getting back to work.
