Scarlett Johannson denies crash diet rumors

As Scarlett Johansson gets busy with buddy Gwyneth Paltrow and trainer Tracy Anderson in an attempt to get fit and into fighting shape for her role in Iron Man 2, the rest of the world is crying big salty tears and mourning the loss of her glorious curves. Scarlett has assured us over and over again that she loves her curves and would never do anything to dismiss them but apparently, people are still worried that she’s fallen victim to the Hollywood Thin Machine.

Her weight loss prompted tabloid speculation the 24-year-old had embarked upon a strict diet and fitness regime after fearing she would lose out on acting roles to thinner stars.

But Johansson is adamant her new figure is the result of shaping up in preparation for her role as Black Widow in the forthcoming Iron Man sequel.

Her spokesman tells WENN, “The press is making something out of nothing. She is simply getting into shape for a very demanding, physical role in Iron Man 2.” [Source]

This is entirely possible. It is an action movie, after all. While Scarlett has always been hot, she’s not exactly super firm. Let’s hope she manages to keep the curves and add some muscle. At that point, she’ll be pretty much unstoppable.

Robert Downey Jr. trying to gain weight for Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr on set

While his costars Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson work tirelessly with trainer Tracy Anderson to slim down for their roles in the next “Iron Man” movie, Robert Downey Jr. is trying to fatten himself up.

Robert Downey Jr. is preparing to pile on the pounds for his role in Iron Man 2.

The actor, 44, had to slim down to play lean detective Sherlock Holmes in Guy Ritchie’s movie — but now he has to put on weight and muscle to be a believable Tony Stark again.

He says, “I’ve got to not be the skinny Brit anymore.

“I’ve got to get back to the Tony that everyone knew and may have loved. I’ve got to pump it up a little. Just for now, I am back on the steak diet.” [Source]

Let’s hope he’s paring that steak with a healthy dose of weight training, otherwise he just might end up with an iron gut.

Scarlett Johansson diets for Iron Man

Gwyneth Paltrow has convinced Scarlett Johansson to give Tracy Anderson a try. Johansson has reportedly dropped 14 pounds since going on a Paltrow-inspired diet/exercise regimen and is looking fit and skinny as she prepares to film Iron Man 2.

“The pair have been doing daily workouts with Gwyneth’s personal trainer Tracy Anderson. Scarlett is also staying away from carbohydrates.”

The 24-year-old actress has reportedly decided to slim down amid fears she could lose out on movie roles to younger, more attractive actresses. A friend told Britain’s Star magazine:

Scarlett has always been happy with her curves, but recently she has been feeling pressure to lose a few pounds.

“She knows that she is up against tough competition from younger, prettier and increasingly skinner actresses.”

Scarlett previously insisted she loved her fuller figure and felt no pressure to diet. She said:

“I don’t need to be skinny to be sexy.” [Source]

That’s for damned sure. Scarlett definitely doesn’t need to lose any weight and I’m not sure who these “prettier” actresses are, but as long as she sticks to her curves, I think Scarlett should be OK shedding some excess baggage.

Gwyneth Paltrow links cancer to shampoo

Gwyneth Paltrow headshot

Gwyneth Paltrow is making scientists crazy with her recent claims that standard household products like shampoo contain harmful chemicals that can cause cancer in young kids.

She said: ‘A couple of years ago I was asked to give a quote for a book concerning environmental toxins and their effects on our children. While reading up on the subject, I was seized with fear about what the research said.

‘Foetuses, infants and toddlers are basically unable to metabolize toxins the way that adults are, and we are constantly filling our environments with chemicals that may or may not be safe.

‘The research is troubling; the incidence of diseases in children such as asthma, cancer and autism have shot up exponentially and many children we all know and love have been diagnosed with developmental issues like ADHD [Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder].’ [Source]

The jury is still out on all of this and while I don’t disagree with all of her claims, Paltrow needs to slow her roll just a bit when it comes to this stuff. She isn’t an expert and her tone is way over the top. Any time you tell people that their “foetus” is in trouble, you’re really just being alarmist.

Gwyneth Paltrow urges readers to dance away their excess baggage

Gwyneth Paltrow arrives at premier

Ugh. Gwyneth Paltrow is so cheesy she should be used in a fondue. The Oscar-winner turned health-guru had this to say in a recent Goop newsletter:

Spring is springing! The optimism inherent in the first blossoms says it all – that is, until you realize that bathing suit season is closer than you think. As it is wholly unrealistic to follow those “10 Days to a Bathing Suit-Ready Body” routines expecting to actually achieve a drastic change, I asked the cutest, most motivated, most genius trainer on earth to jumpstart our spring fitness regimes. Here is a spanking new dance cardio routine from Tracy Anderson to get our heart rates up and the inches melting away. Do dance cardio five times a week for at least 30 minutes and by summer you will see a change you will be proud of! [Source]

Sure, Gwyneth probably didn’t write this but whoever she’s hired to churn out her happy-sappy copy should be tied to a tree and doused in raw honey in the middle of bear country. If you think I’m being mean, then visit Goop and check out Tracy Anderson’s bubbly, free dance podcast and spring into spring like a champion Goopster. You have my blessing.

Gwyneth Paltrow thinks yoga will fix New York City public schools

Gwyneth Paltrow at movie premier

Gwyneth Paltrow is hell bent on getting you to drink her Kool-Aid. First came “Goop,” the content of which she allegedly stole from another person; next came the chain of health clubs that no one in the recession-plagued United States can afford to join; and now the Oscar-winning mom wants to bring yoga to the schools! I mean, seriously! Is there no end to her crusade of wellness? OK, maybe yoga in the schools is a good thing but I still think Paltrow is the reigning Ego Queen of New York right now.

“I started practicing yoga 20 years ago with Eddie Stern and it changed my life, so when he asked me to come … I felt I owe him so much,” Gwyneth tells “The Insider.”

The actress joined forces with Alice + Olivia and Urban Zen Foundation to host a gala thrown by Bent on Learning, a non-profit organization that offers instruction in yoga and meditation to students in New York City public schools and youth centers.

“I think New York City public schools need some TLC, and, I think, yoga is a nice way to get centered. It is a great idea,” Gwyneth adds. [Source]

Pardon my rant for a moment but this really burns me up. Not because it isn’t a great idea but because I actually went to public school in New York City and if I recall correctly, Gwynnie went to Spence. The NYC public school system might benefit from a few breaths in Downward Dog, but it’d probably do just as well with new text books and more qualified teachers.

Gwyneth Paltrow gym a flop so far

gwyneth paltrow picture smiling showing teeth at event

Poor little Gwyneth Paltrow and her massively engorged head. The Oscar-winner is so driven by her own ego right now she never once considered that maybe opening the flagship location of her super expensive health club chain in recession-busted New York City wasn’t such a hot idea. Well, Gwynnie, the chickens have come home to roost and apparently they don’t feel like roosting on a Precor.

The “Shakespeare in Love” star teamed up with her personal trainer Tracy Anderson - who also works with Madonna - to launch a worldwide chain of gyms. But the duo hadn’t anticipated the credit crunch and are worried that not enough people are signed up at the New York facility, which is set to open later this year.

Workers at the gym are cold-calling people to try and persuade them to join, according to New York gossip column PageSix.

A person who was contacted by the gym says, “It’s ridiculous. Membership is like $4,500 to join and then hundreds of dollars a month. Who can afford that right now?” [Source]

You can’t see me but please know that I am crying so hard right now I’m actually laughing.

Penelope Cruz loves her pint

Penelope Cruz is so easy to love, especially when she admits that she has a taste for Guinness. Don’t we all? The Oscar-winner recently spoke about her obsession with the Irish brew. And just in time for St. Paddy’s day!

The Spanish actress is a huge fan of the Irish stout, but admits she can’t drink more than one without feeling the effects.

She said: “I really like Guinness. I always drink it straight from the bottle. I have a lot of Irish friends and they introduced me to it. Although I like it if I have one I’m drunk!”

Penelope, 34, isn’t the only Hollywood beauty to have an unlikely penchant for Guinness.

Gwyneth Paltrow is also partial to downing a few pints of the black stout when she has night off from motherhood duties. [Source]

Why is it that the idea of Gwyneth drinking Guinness makes me mad while the image of Penelope with a Guinness moustache makes me smile? Guess that’s my beef.
