Remember that post about Mischa Barton’s nutty new workout routine? Here she is in action. And apparently, she’s not the only starlet flying high in Jukari class. Molly Sims is also attending the hour-long flight class.

The class, called JUKARI Fit to Fly, was created by Reebok and the makers of the world famous dance troupe, Cirque du Soleil.  During the hour long class you get a total body workout and all the while you get the sensation of flying!  The workout strengthens and lengthens the body through balance and core training on a trapeze-like bar. Molly said,

“It was an unexpected, completely new experience.” [Source]

That makes sense, Molly, considering the fact that humans are really not built for flying. But technically, we’re not built for swimming either (only Michael Phelps is) and we still do that so I guess it’s all good. Looks like the girls are enjoying wearing the same workout clothes too. Jenny McCarthy talks about losing baby weight in Shape

Jenny McCarthy gained a ton of weight when she was pregnant with her son but that was six years ago. Apparently, it’s taken her that long to lose the excess baggage and get back down to her natural size. Nutty, huh? She’s managed to get back on track through a dedicated diet and exercise regimen which she talks about in Shape magazine.

Jenny McCarthy’s weight ballooned to more than 200 pounds after the birth of her son Evan, now 6 – but the actress got back on track through smaller meals, a diet overhaul and a yoga regimen that left her boyfriend Jim Carrey feeling jealous.

“[Weight Watchers] taught me portion control and to be conscious of what I put into my mouth,” the outspoken McCarthy, 36, tells Shape magazine for its May issue.

Three years ago, McCarthy switched to a gluten- and dairy-free diet, and now a typical day’s menu includes egg whites, fish, fresh fruit and veggies. Between meals, she noshes on “those little packets of nuts from Starbucks.” [Source]

Sounds pretty sensible to me and as much as I love my gluten and dairy, I can totally understand how cutting them out would help anyone slim down. Good to know that Jenny is limiting the surgical alteration to her face only and handling her body in a natural way.


Jillian Michaels to corner exercise market with new book

Ya’ gotta love Jillian Michaels. The kick-ass Biggest Loser trainer won my heart when she turned her back on that drama queen, cry baby Felipe a few weeks ago. But in addition to her work on Loser, she’s building her own fitness empire that will soon be big enough to crush any one who even tries to get in on her market. Her new book, Master Your Metabolism: The 3 Diet Secrets to Naturally Balancing Your Hormones for a Hot and Healthy Body, is due out soon and it’s sure to be a must read, despite the ridiculously long title.

Jillian was inspired to write the book after having issues with her own endocrine system.  Because of this, she got together with some experts to first correct her own metabolism by learning how to work with the hormones, and then she decided to share her findings.

The three-phase plan engages all of the weight loss hormones and she reveals how to ‘remove, restore and rebalance.’  Other features of the book include  shopping resources, food charts that activate hormones, information on how to buy the right foods on a budget, tips on dining out, recipes and ways to control hormone related health issues. Fergie has dropped the 15 pounds she gained for her role in the movie, “Nine.” The Black Eyed Peas songstress was spotted trotting along with her personal trainer in Los Angeles yesterday and she looked perfectly fit, happy and even managed a smile for her photog admirers.

“I’m finally back to the weight that I was before the film. It’s taken me forever!” the 34-year-old tells In Touch. “I have a trainer. I started doing it myself. I didn’t lose all of it for the wedding, but I fit into my dress, so I was happy. Now I’m just trying to sculpt and get ready for the tour, get my stamina up.” [Source]

So it looks like Jennifer Aniston has decided to spill the beans on her “obsessive exercise regimen” before John Mayer has the chance to spill them for her. Aniston gave the details to US Weekly recently. Drum roll please:

1. Yoga once every two days for two hours. She said that she seems to grow taller as yoga helped to straighten her spine.

2. She jogs everyday at 6am.

3. She never splurges on anything other than a few chips with salsa each night.

4. She does 20 minutes on the elliptical machine or treadmill at 5.7 mph at a 1.5 incline.

5. During “Friends,” she ate the same salad everyday for ten years. Now she’s on a “common sense diet” portion control, no processed foods and lots of lean protein, fruit and vegetables.

Now, we have heard for years that Jen is an anxiety-ridden wreck and a serious chain smoker. So those cancer sticks may be helping her control her weight as well, but we cannot recommend it! [Source]

Sounds like she works really hard to stay totally miserable. Still though, the workout keeps her working.

Mischa Barton is supposed to be gaining weight right now not losing it! The slim star has been told by producers of her new TV show, “A Beautiful Life,” that she’s too dang thin for prime time. Barton appears committed to keeping the role and yet she still hit the gym the other day.

But this wasn’t just a regular trip to the gym–Mischa Barton went to Reebok and Cirque du Soleil’s new fitness project called “Jukari: Fit To Fly.” According to Reebok, the workout “gives the sensation of flying while strengthening and lengthening the body through cardio, strength, balance and core training.” [Source]

This actually sounds like a lot of fun, which makes me suspicious of its fitness claims. Perhaps Mischa won’t lose any weight after all and she’ll get to keep her job.


Madonna’s five tried and true exercise tips

Madonna’s romantic life may be a constant source of drama but the Material Girl definitely knows how to keep her workout regimen consistent and stress free. Fitness magazine recently sat down and chatted with Startraks photog Humberto Carreno, who has the dubious distinction of playing “fly on the wall” when Madonna is in New York City. Carreno told Fitness:

“She’s amazing. She never misses a day,” he says. Here are a few of her stay-fit secrets.

1. Stick to a time, but be flexible.
Like clockwork, Madonna leaves her home at 8 a.m. to exercise. Even the morning after a late-night event, she won’t skip her workout. “She’ll come out later, at 10:30,” Carreno says.

2. Ditch the crummy sweats.
Catch the Material Girl in old T-shirts? Never! “She always looks great, wearing the coolest athletic clothes,” Carreno notes. “It must motivate her.”

3. Change it up.
“She’s really careful about not getting bored. One day she’ll go to the gym, the next she’ll be jogging in Central Park,” Carreno says. “I’ve never seen her do the same thing twice in a row.”

4. Find friends who love to work out.
They’ll not only encourage you, they’ll join you. Carreno has shot Madonna running with Ingrid Casares; in London, she’s been seen leaving her gym with Gwyneth Paltrow and Stella McCartney.

5. Don’t overdo it.
Carreno has noticed that the singer never works out for more than 45 minutes. So take heart: An incredible body doesn’t have to be a full-time job — just a regular commitment. [Source]

I can totally dig on 1,3 and 5 but as for rules 2 and 4, I’m not so sure. Then again, I might fly solo because I’m embarrassed of my decades-old gym shorts/ex-boyfriend sweatshirt ensemble.

Not quite sure who the bigger loser is here: John Mayer for threatening to spill all of Jennifer Aniston’s intimate beans in a tell-all book or Jennifer Aniston for allowing this fool to dump her twice.

John just can’t keep his mouth shut,” a pal tells Star, “and he’s telling friends that he’s thinking of going public with all their juicy secrets.”

So just what embarrassing info could John reveal? For one, Jen made a slip of the tongue calling John “Brad“… while they were in bed! He also knows all about her obsessive exercise regime, embarrassing TV viewing habits, devotion to astrology and numerology and has witnessed the actress throw fits! [Source]

The silly thing is we already know that Jen works out obsessively. She does it because she wants to stay employed, John. As for the TV viewing habits, hello, cable is a tax write off for the ex-Friends star. And so what she likes reading her horoscope every day? Who doesn’t? My question is this: was Jennifer Aniston John Mayer’s first girlfriend? Cuz he seems to think that her habits come as a shock and as far as I’m concerned she sounds like most of my BFFs.
