Last night I had the weirdest (and scariest) dream about Britney Spears: she was visiting a prison and was supposed to give autographs to the (male) prisoners, but she ended up getting into a fight with them and being beaten up by them.

To prove myself that Britney’s alright, I’m posting these candid pictures of her taken yesterday (May 5th) as she was leaving Bally’s Total Fitness Gym in LA after a workout.

In some real Britney news, she was back in court today (at an early hour!), hoping to win greater access to her two kids in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Spears‘ early arrival marks a turnaround in the singer’s attitude towards the custody hearings - she has previously snubbed the court by arriving late on at least two occasions, before leaving abruptly - blaming her decision on the media frenzy surrounding her appearance.

Federline was given full custody of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, after Spears staged a stand-off with police, emergency services officials and childcare experts when she refused to handover her sons following a scheduled visit in January (08).

The former couple has been battling the custody order ever since, but Federline recently relaxed his ex-wife’s visitation rights, allowing her to spend extra time with her kids.

The progress hearing at Los Angeles family court is to re-evaluate the situation, and the hearing is expected to discuss the results of a psychiatrist’s evaluation of Spears. If Spears is deemed competent, Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon, who is presiding over the hearing, could officially amend the agreement and allow the singer more official visits.

Apparently Pink and Bai Ling are good friends - they went kayaking together in Malibu a few days ago. Besides getting a great workout (kayaking apparently burns around 365 calories per hour), the two of them also had a great time!

In a recent interview, Gwyneth Paltrow talked about her friendship with Madonna and how they work out together sometimes.

“Sometimes we work out together. We work out very hard. She’s just much fitter than I am. I do a lot of dance aerobics and mat work [but] without my family I have no glow. Everything else is superficial.” [Source]

Mariah Carey, who recently lost around 14 pounds, appeared on Oprah yesterday and shared some of her diet and fitness secrets with the rest of the world.

“My jean size went down to my 10th grade size,” the 38-year-old revealed Monday.

“I got tired to people telling me, ‘You need to lose weight,’” she said. “It inspired me.”

“For me, it’s not about a number on a scale,” she added. “It’s not about necessarily even a size. It’s about feeling good and being comfortable in your own skin. Right now, I feel really great. I feel better than I’ve ever felt.” [Us]

Mariah is a well-known yo-yo dieter, her weight fluctuating a lot throughout the years. But a recent comment about her weight made by a close friend inspired her to make some permanent changes in her life and get into shape once and for all. Mariah’s “secret weight loss weapon” is her nutrition and fitness coach, who helped her reshape her body, but also makes sure she follows her strict diet.

Mariah says her workouts typically last for 60 to 90 minutes and combine cardio with resistance training. To tone her arms, Mariah uses her own body weight and stretches to sculpt long, lean lines. She likes to hop into a pool for the cardio portion of her workout. “What’s great about working out in the pool is the water acts as resistance,” she says. “You’re actually exercising twice as hard without feeling it.” [Oprah]

Some of you see no difference, and it’s true, Mariah was never “fat” - but she was a lot heavier before (about two years ago). Here’s a comparison photo from a 2006 concert:
