Reese Witherspoon’s new fitness craze is softball

Bit of an odd choice for a celeb of her stature, don’t you think? Reese Witherspoon was all hopped up on Yoga Hop a minute ago and now she’s trying her hand at slow pitch. Doesn’t look like she’s going to get much cardio by playing catcher but hey, she looks like she’s having fun so it’s all good.

Kelly Osbourne finally happy thanks to Wii Fit and boyfriend

Kelly Osbourne leave nobu

Kelly Osbourne has a new lease on life. The recovering addict is enjoying the hell out of her Wii Fit and refuses to get off of the exercise-geared video game system. Hey, if you’re gonna be addicted to something, it might as well have some health benefits.

She explained: “I have a terrible diet. Last night, I was eating Domino’s pizza because I had nothing in my fridge and I couldn’t be a***d to go to the grocery store. I don’t really work out either. I play on my Wii machine - I love the Wii Fit!”

But despite regularly working up a sweat with the Nintendo Wii, the reality TV star insists finding true love with her fiancé Luke Worrall, 19, has made the biggest difference to her life.

She said: “Being in love and being happy has got a lot to do with it. To be 24 years old and finally say ‘I’m happy’ is a really big deal for me. [Source]

Oh my God, FINALLY! Finally, at the ripe old age of twenty-four Kelly is finally, finally happy. It’s been a long and bumpy ride, Kelly and I’m psyched that you’ve managed to achieve the kind of true happiness, the kind of completely fulfilling joy that most yogis, spiritual leaders and divine entities have to wait eons to attain. We should all be lucky as to have recurrent drug problems and 19-year old boyfriends. You go, girl!

Kimberly Stewart needs new running shoes

It’s great that Kimberly Stewart is outside getting her sweat on but the poor girl is in for some serious shin splints and knee problems if she doesn’t get herself a new pair of sneakers stat. Looks like she’s run this flattened old pair into the ground.

Scarlett Johannson denies crash diet rumors

As Scarlett Johansson gets busy with buddy Gwyneth Paltrow and trainer Tracy Anderson in an attempt to get fit and into fighting shape for her role in Iron Man 2, the rest of the world is crying big salty tears and mourning the loss of her glorious curves. Scarlett has assured us over and over again that she loves her curves and would never do anything to dismiss them but apparently, people are still worried that she’s fallen victim to the Hollywood Thin Machine.

Her weight loss prompted tabloid speculation the 24-year-old had embarked upon a strict diet and fitness regime after fearing she would lose out on acting roles to thinner stars.

But Johansson is adamant her new figure is the result of shaping up in preparation for her role as Black Widow in the forthcoming Iron Man sequel.

Her spokesman tells WENN, “The press is making something out of nothing. She is simply getting into shape for a very demanding, physical role in Iron Man 2.” [Source]

This is entirely possible. It is an action movie, after all. While Scarlett has always been hot, she’s not exactly super firm. Let’s hope she manages to keep the curves and add some muscle. At that point, she’ll be pretty much unstoppable.

Hilary Duff looking buff

Hilary Duff leaves the gym

OK, maybe not “buff” exactly, but Hilary Duff is definitely looking fit as she makes her way out of the gym post workout in Hollywood earlier this afternoon. Duff doesn’t look too pleased to see the cameras but she shouldn’t be so concerned about unflattering pix: she’s looking pretty good these days!

Whitney Port blogs about workout regimen

Whitney Port works out

Whitney Port brought her camera to a recent workout session with trainer Danny Connolly and then invited Danny to share some of his training secrets with her fans on her personal blog. Danny, who has been working with Whitney for some time, has been training since the mid 90s and is confident that his body-sculpting techniques are second to none. Here’s what Danny had to say about some of Whitney’s exercises:

…the cross-cable push/pulls…emphasizes the obliques and core, in addition to working the shoulders, arms and back muscles.

…the traveling lunge which is a standard trainer favorite.  I utilize them with all of my girls and Whit has benefited greatly from this move. It works thighs, butt and hips.  We always concentrate on keeping her upper body tall and erect to emphasize the abs too.  While they may not be one of her favorites,  Whitney does them perfectly! My form is very strict, or I should say that I am very meticulous about the manner in which I teach THIS move in particular.

…the weighted ball toss for toning the waistline and shoulders — it’s Whit’s favorite move we do!   We have her concentrate on controlling the momentum aspect.  We keep her arms as straight as possible, too.

Lastly we have the tricep dips on a bench. She does these well every time!  We try to keep her upper body close to the bench as she lifts and lowers  her body up and down. This move works the shoulders and arms really well! [Source]

Looks like Whitney works hard to keep fit. Think you can master her workout?

Sheryl Crow’s workout routine

Sheryl Crow has had to mix up her workout regimen since becoming a mom. The super musician was caught on the red carpet at the 2009 Grammy Awards discussing what she does to keep her body slim and healthy now that she doesn’t have as much time to run around.

“I used to be a runner, I used to run all the time, but since Wyatt (her son) came, I’ve gotten kind of lax about it.”  She continues, “Recently, a friend turned me on to this P90X, it’s a workout series—it’s ninety days. It’s every different kind of muscle group—Pilates and yoga and weightlifting too…It’s just everything!”

P90X is a system of 12 sweat-inducing and muscle-burning DVD workouts that are to transform your ‘normal’ body into a ripped up and toned machine in 90 days.  Exercises include plyometrics, yoga, Kenpo (type of martial arts) and weight training. There is a three-phase nutrition plan, supplement options, an accompanying fitness guide, calendar and even online support with the celebrity trainer, Tony Horton.  The exercise program is to be followed six days a week through out the 90 days. Rosario Dawson and others use Power Plates to stay fit

Rosario Dawson in pink

The other day I posted a story about Fleetwood Mac singer, Stevie Nicks who claims to have dropped a ton of weight by using Power Plates. That was the first I’d ever heard of the strange, vibrating exercise contraption that is now taking Hollywood by storm.

Rosario Dawson and Kylie Minogue are fans of the Power Plate, a machine with a vibrating platform that creates a rigorous workout by triggering muscle contractions (between 30-50 times per second) while the user tries to stay balanced during exercise repetitions. “It is a great invention and a convenient, time-efficient workout,” says Minogue about the device, which reportedly helps tone, increase muscle strength as well as improve posture. [Source]

I don’t know that I would feel comfortable with the muscle contractions but hey, if it works, it works. Let’s just pray these ladies don’t start twitching involuntarily over the next few months.
