Dita Von Teese talks tats in Inked

Dita Von Teese in Inked

Dita Von Teese is sexing it up in the pages of Inked magazine and talking about all manner of issues big and small. Von Teese looks like a pristine pin-up beauty and insists that her image is not an act—she’s Dita through and through and almost all the time. Dita also talks about her famous facial tattoo and the shop that saved her from making a big mistake.

INKED: Which tattoo shop is responsible for your beauty mark?

DITA VON TEESE: It was this really famous tattoo shop in Fullerton, CA, called Classic Tattoo Studio. I was 17. It’s where all the rockabillies-Mike Ness and everybody-had their tattoos done.

INKED: Was it the first time they’d done that?

DITA VON TEESE: Oh yeah. Nobody goes in there asking for a beauty mark. You have to understand that I was pretty eccentric. I was always drawing hearts and stars in that spot. I went in thinking I wanted a star there, but they wouldn’t do it. They were like, “We’re not putting a star on your face.” They were the voice of reason.

INKED: Are you glad they talked you out of it?

DITA VON TEESE: Yeah! They were so right. In the early ’90s I almost got seams up the backs of my legs, but I’m so glad I didn’t. Can you imagine how hard it would be to match up the seams with real stockings? It would be a nightmare. It’s very popular now. At that time, I was researching everything about the ’40s, about how during World War II women would draw seams on. I thought, Wouldn’t that be cool? I had them henna tattooed on, but I never went all the way. [Source]

How Dita Von Teese worked out her body issues

Dita Von Teese at Diner de La Mode Party in Paris

Dita Von Teese works hard for her tiny little waist. While she does admit that corsets go a long way in creating the Victorian look, she also credits hard work for helping her maintain the illusion.

“It’s all corsets, Pilates and ballet classes. I train hard,” Teese told Tarts on Tuesday night at the very intimate book launch party for her pal Amanda Eliasch’s “Cloak & Dagger Butterfly.”

But Von Teese admits that she hasn’t always been comfortable with herself and her body. In fact, she got into Burlesque in the hopes that it would help her deal with her insecurities.

“I felt very ordinary and not very glamorous so I decided one day that I was going to have to just make my own dream world.”

Victoria Beckham and her fellow fashionistas Dita von Teese and Claudia Schiffer were on the front row at the Roland Mouret Spring/Summer 2008 collection in Paris on Wednesday (January 23).

All three wore similar dark shades in an attempt to hide their eyes from all the camera flashes, but managed to look like robots.
