Victoria Beckham in Vogue UK April 2008

Victoria Beckham in Vogue UK cover April 2008

Victoria Beckham is on the cover of Vogue UK magazine‘s April 2008 issue. The photoshoot is very glamorous and, as much as I dislike Posh, I have to say she looks absolutely gorgeous!

The whole article about her is pretty interesting too. Here’s a short snippet concerning Victoria‘s diet and exercise habits (or lack thereof):

She says she eats healthily, and observing her intake during our meetings it’s all steamed vegetables, no fats, fish, edamame beans, fruit… and champagne, but there is a degree of control exercised which one would hardly call normal. She is genuinely fine-boned but is also, one suspects, haunted by being the fatter girl at the Laine Theatre Arts school, where she was never one of the “tall, skinny, gorgeous ones”. “I would never put my health at risk. Obviously working out is important. Well, I don’t. I have joined a gym but I can’t bring myself to start. What do you wear on the running machine? I can’t bring myself to wear flat shoes,” she says, fully aware she’s parodying herself – her common default position when questioned. “Eating disorders are an incredibly serious illness, but you’ve got to be realistic about who you are and what you are. I’d love to look like Linda Evangelista. You know what? I could try for the rest of my life, but I’m never going to look like her.”

Rihanna’s diet during her tour

Rihanna's diet during her tour

Unlike other musicians’ backstage demands, Rihanna doesn’t ask for extravagant foods, keeping her requests pretty simple. During her tour, she asks for lots of fruit, Buffalo wings, fried chicken and white rice.

As part of a contract for the 20-year-old’s world tour, the Barbadian beauty reportedly demands that each venue supply her with two packs of pink bubblegum, two apples, two mangos, two pears, seedless grapes and strawberries. She also asks for two knives (to cut the fruit), a teapot and 24 warm Buffalo wings, fried chicken and spiced white rice. [Page Six]

I think that’s a pretty healthy diet, especially considering all the dancing she’s doing during her concerts. (More on Rihanna‘s diet here.)

Jamie Lee Curtis advertises the Activia yogurt

Jamie Lee Curtis advertises the Activia yogurt

49-year-old actress Jamie Lee Curtis is the new face of Dannon Activia yogurts. Jamie has appeared in a TV commercial promoting the probiotic yogurt that aids digestive problems.

Curtis said in a statement: “Digestive problems are important and surprisingly common but we don’t discuss them. Whereas we routinely talk about other uncomfortable topics, such as erectile dysfunction, digestive health is not being addressed – and it’s time to change that.

I am not afraid to talk about bowel issues – there I said it – and I’m very committed to help people find solutions, like a balanced diet and Activia. It is rewarding to be the ice breaker who speaks openly about digestive health and irregularity, and make it easier for people to find a solution.” [Showbiz Spy]

Rihanna reveals her diet and fitness secrets

Rihanna reveals her diet and fitness secrets

In a recent interview, Rihanna revealed that she works hard to stay in shape. As she has previously stated, “carbs are the enemy” to her, but she says she gets weak if she goes three days without eating them.

You have an amazing figure. How do you stay in shape?
A lot of hard work and a lot of running on the treadmill. Cardio is the key. I have a personal trainer who travels with me if we have a big event coming up. I work out every day but I need a trainer to motivate me – I don’t find it much fun working out on my own.

What do you like about your body?
My bum, and I keep working at it as I want it to be perfect. It makes my clothes look good – and guys like it!

And what do you like least?
My legs. I’m insecure about them. Everyone wants to have slim, perfectly-toned legs and I’m the same. I do weights but I don’t want my legs to bulk up so I do a lot of cardio. I’ve lost a lot of weight since I started working out and if I exercise every day for a week, I can drop several pounds. If I diet, I see even faster results.

Do you have a strict diet?
Carbs are the enemy but if I go three days without them, I start getting weak. If my trainer had her way, I’d eat small meals every three hours, but I sometimes only eat once or twice a day. I have egg whites and pineapple for breakfast with hot water and lemon. For lunch I have fish and potatoes. I hate vegetables but I make myself eat them. For dinner I have fish again.

Does size matter?
Not at all. My size varies – sometimes I’m a (US) 2, sometimes 4 (UK 6 or 8) – but what matters is being fit and healthy. Being slim makes me feel better about myself. It boosts my self-esteem, and having a toned body helps with my job because I wear a lot of skimpy costumes. My weight fluctuates, but I don’t weigh myself every day. I’m 5ft 8in and weigh around 9st 7lb. [Fabulous Mag]

Charlize Theron refused to diet when she was a model

Charlize Theron doesn't like to diet

Even though she was pressured to lose weight when she was a model, Charlize Theron refused to diet and give in to the industry pressure to slim down.

Charlize – who trained to be a ballet dancer after working in the fashion business for around two years – said: “I had the capability to be a bigger model than I was. They were always telling me, ‘Lose five pounds and you’ll be a supermodel.’ But I saw modeling like waitressing – it was a way to pay for another career, and that career was dance.”

However, the star’s fledgling dance career was cut short after she sustained a serious knee injury when she was just 19. [FemaleFirst]

Even though she refused to slim down as a model, Charlize was more than happy to gain weight to play the serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the movie “Monster” (for which she won an Oscar).

Was Kirstie Alley fired for being too fat?

kirstie alley fired for being too fat

Kirstie Alley is no longer the spokeswoman for the Jenny Craig weight loss program, and the National Enquirer is suggesting that she was fired for being too fat.

Kirstie was replaced by Queen Latifah and Valerie Bertinelli. Here’s what Jenny Craig spokesman Scott Parker said:

“Although Kirstie will not appear in future advertising endeavors for us, she does remain on Jenny Craig‘s maintenance program and is confident that our program has helped her incorporate positive lifestyle changes that should last a lifetime.” [FOXNews]

I feel bad for Kirstie, but how can you represent a weight loss program if you keep gaining weight?
