Courtney Cox Arquette is showing her age to everyone
Courtney Cox Arquette is rocking the age angle. Instead of complaining about her “advanced years” like so many of her celeb contemporaries, Cox Arquette has decided to cash in on them, playing an aging sex pot on the new ABC show “Cougar Town.”
On the new show, the former “Friends” actress plays a daring 40-year-old single mother who has a penchant for dating much younger men.
And from the pictures of her on the set, it would seem that the 44-year-old actress definitely looks the part, as she steamed things up in a sexy striped dress.
“Cougar Town” writer Bill Lawrence told press, “Forty-year-old women on TV are so beautiful and perfect and wrinkle-free. People don’t do the reality of it, and there is a real comedy area about a woman who is talking about Botox, about having sex with the lights on and how her body is changing.” [Source]
I’m wondering if Mr. Lawrence meant to insinuate that “real” 40-year old women are not beautiful. Nobody is perfect and wrinkle-free (least of all his star), but there are plenty of beautiful, sexy, healthy-looking 40-year old (and older) women in the world who don’t go around trying to bed 18-year old boys. Sure, boring old normal folk might not make for high ratings, but I’m getting a bit sick of shows that try to pass off shock-and-shlock as social realism. However, considering that Lawrence writes for “Scrubs,” I might be taking this all too seriously. I suppose we’ll see.
